Perception vs Intuition- A conversation that changed my mind.

I recently had a conversation about the difference between perception and intuition. The idea that intuition is based on a held set of beliefs and known facts, while perception is a state of seeing how things all tie together, and being present with what is. This has changed the words I use to define intuition. I have held a mistaken belief about what intuition is.  What I have called intuition may actually be perception. Even though the change is subtle it may have a big impact on how what I have called intuitive work is perceived.

Intuition is the flash of insight you may get after intensively studying and working on an idea or problem. Its that symbiosis of thought and work coming together - giving you that flash if inspiration that is insight into a solution. However I believe that the flash it self is a door opening to perception. The intensity of involvement takes you to the point of synthesis and that is an opening, a foundation, which allows us to see more clearly. Where you suddenly see the whole problem and how it all fits together- this is an instant of perception. The ability to receive insight depends on you being open to the information.

What do we see when we look at energy? Is it perception or intuition, or is it a combination of these two closely related experiences?  As an "intuitive", I practice the art of deepening my perceptive experience. Is intuition a limit on how much we allow ourselves to perceive? Intuition determines weather we filter for danger, for comfort, or for a solution to a specific problem. This connection to the body, and what intuitively feel we need to be aware of, may determine how much we allow ourselves to perceive.
